Stephanie & Kyle Trash The Dress in the Mayan Riviera! – Destination Wedding Photographers

Stephanie and Kyle were an awesome couple we met up with in Mexico at the Grand Bahia Principe to take some cool trash the dress photos!  They were up for anything, so we hit a public beach and used pretty much everything we came across for the photographs!  Krister is a huge fan of black and white, while I can say I was not when I began photography.  The longer I am photographing though, the more I am beginning to appreciate the purpose for black and white… the way it puts focus on the subject, not the colors, the classic and timeless look and feel it adds to a photograph and the way it displays lighting on an entirely different level from color.  On this session I challenged myself to use color and black and white for EVERY image.  Here are some of my favorite black and whites so far!  Oh- and before I forget, a huge thanks to the family that helped us move our gear up and down the beach!

Stay tuned for part 2 (in 3D and color!…. Okay, not in 3D, but in color nevertheless!).

Audrey & Kent’s Wedding Photos! – Mexico Destination Wedding Photographer

Audrey and Kent’s wedding took place at the really awesome Dreams, Tulum in the Mayan Riviera – Mexico.  We had a great time with them and their bridal party and families!  When we met Audrey in the Dreams lobby she said that she was just coming back from the gym!  This was probably our first bride to ever hit the gym on the day of the wedding :).  Krister photographed Kent and groomsmen getting ready while I photographed Audrey and her girls.  I don’t have enough positive things to say about this resort… the staff were friendly, the wedding coordinators excellent and the food delicious.  Audrey and Kent chose to have an intimate ceremony in the garden of the resort, and we headed to the beach for family and bridal party pictures.  As it began to cloud over, we went into the town of Tulum to have a few photographs with less of a resort feel to them.  Koodos to Audrey and Kent for being willing to do some photos in the rain!  A huge thanks to their groomsman who helped out with umbrellas and moving gear from place to place :).

A trend we’ve noticed with our destination weddings is that they are simply more relaxed. Possibly this is due to the intimate groups that are usually involved, possibly because once a couple arrives at their resort there is little that can be changed and the vacation feeling kicks in.  Whatever it is, we love them for this reason.

Audrey & Kent, we loved spending the day with you and your guests… thanks for being so open to our ideas, and easy going even while photographing in some dirty back alleys and in the rain!

A tip to our photography students: Carry some translucent plastic bags in your camera bags always.  If it begins to rain these can easily be thrown over your flashes, and shooting can continue!  As the light will be slightly more diffused (usually a stop or less – depending on the bag) you will have to turn your flashes up to compensate.
