Allison & Andrew’s Engagement Session!

Here it is… Allison and Andrew’s engagement session!  We met up with this super fun couple who travelled from Calgary for the shoot, and it began to rain.  We went undercover to a parking lot spot we love, and came out when the rain died down.  Allison and Andrew were so much fun.  Allison kept slapping mosquitos off of Andrew’s face.  (Krister wasn’t so sure there were actually that many mosquitos :)).  They are definitely in love with each other and it showed.  Here are some of our favorites from the shoot!

One man’s junk is a photographer’s treasure!

Nickie & Brandon’s Connection Session – Edmonton Portrait Photographers

Nickie & Brandon were a sweet couple whom we had the pleasure of photographing in many odd locations around Edmonton!  Nickie herself is an artist who writes children’s books, draws and photographs too!  It is always a large compliment for us when someone into photography themselves chooses us to photograph them :).

As Nickie and Brandon were up for anything, we took them to a few places we have scouted for some shoots… back alleys and a field full of metal “trash”.  We loved that we had two people up for anything, and willing to deal with some mud and garbage for some unique photos!

For photographers:  Many photographers love the no-flash look in photographs.  So do we in many applications.  Incorporating flash, and more importantly, off-camera flash is not just an important choice to combat the sun and add light into eye sockets, but it is also an important artistic choice.  Notice though how the sky is almost white in the last four photographs, and really dark and rainy in the two images before these.  Also, notice how the light and shadow on the faces changes depending on whether we used or didn’t use flash.  With flash, the tonal variation on the skin gives the illusion of depth in the picture.  We feel it’s important to be able to create a variety of looks, and have many lighting techniques up your sleeve.  Here’s two votes for some off camera flashing!

Lydia & Daniel – Edmonton Photography

We met Lydia doing a boudoir shoot, and really hit it off.  She asked us to do some photographs of her and her boyfriend Daniel, and we were excited to!  Due to the c-c-cold weather we took Lydia and Daniel indoors for most of the photographs.  We couldn’t wait for better weather as we wanted to photograph them before they move to Vancouver!  I may be just a little jealous… I love Vancouver!  I also love this couple.  They are so much fun!

Nikki & Joe’s Engagement Photos! – Edmonton Portrait Photographer

I met Joe a few years back at his sister’s wedding.  I loved the family, and for that reason was really excited when I met Nikki & Joe while they were planning their wedding!  Nikki is a beautiful girl, and the two make an excellent couple :).  For their engagement photos we went all over downtown, and had a really great time minus a few chills!  Nikki and Joe were such troopers when it came to photographs in the winter, that you would never guess the temperature outside by the photographs :).  I’m super excited to photograph their wedding in Lloydminister!
