Becky & Trevor’s Wedding Photographs! – Edmonton Wedding Photographers

Photographing Becky and Trevor’s wedding was a highlight of the summer for me.  They are friends of ours, and it was great being able to spend their day with them while photographing it!  The wedding was full of personality.

The groomsmen walked down the aisle to the Oompa Loompa song as a surprise to Trevor and the audience!  There were many laughs along the way, and the wedding was a lot of fun.

After family formals, the group headed to McDonalds for a snack, and then to Trevor and Becky’s place where the groomsmen had decorated the front lawn for the wedding day!  Our second location was out of the city at an old train we like to shoot at.  Susan was a bridesmaid and told not to interfere with photography as Lucy and I had it covered, but at some points she couldn’t contain herself and went for the lights or a camera (as is proven by one of the photos below) :).

The reception was great.  Becky’s parents own a farm, so the roast beef was fresh and probably the most delicious I’ve tasted.  The speeches were hilarious, and the dance floor was always full.  All the best in your lives together!

Rhonda & Jamie’s Wedding Photographs! – Edmonton Wedding Photographers

Rhonda & Jamie’s wedding was held at the Oasis in Edmonton, Alberta.  What a gorgeous location!  We really loved the “getting ready rooms” with the big windows and natural light.  The children in this wedding added so much to the photographs, and were absolutely adorable.  The ceremony/reception area was circular in shape and had a great balcony for us to photograph from for some alternate angles!

Rhonda looked gorgeous and Jamie was full of emotion during the getting ready.  The ceremony was truly beautiful.  Afterwards we did some photographs with the bridal party and family on the Oasis grounds where they have a waterfall with lilly pads… very picturesque!

The reception was really beautiful.  There were large screens that continually rotate through photographs, and the tables were on different levels so everyone had a great view of the head table.  The speeches were heartfelt and there was a lot of emotion throughout the wedding.

Note to photographers: The outdoor area at the Oasis is beautiful, but you need to be prepared with proper lighting equipment at this location.  On a sunny day, the lighting is coming from the “wrong direction” for nice even lighting when photographing someone against the nicest backdrop available at the location (the waterfall).  To combat this issue we used a large diffuser that was held by two people (with the wind, large diffusers usually require more than one person to hold in place) standing on ladders when necessary.  Diffusing the light is something we commonly due to produce an even, beautiful light on faces.  Once diffused, we then “pop” in light we want (a separation light, and a light from the side to provide ratio).  With large group photographs a diffuser will not be able to provide a significant amount of cover.  Here we simply watch the shadows as much as possible, so one person isn’t casting a large shadow onto another, then expose for the most common lighting situation on the skin.

Aba & Nana’s Wedding Photographs! – Edmonton Portrait Photographers

Aba and Nana are a beautiful couple with some spunk, and their wedding was both full of romance and a lot of good times!  I loved the blue and brown colors (for a guy I usually don’t notice the color choices, but when choosing I would say blue and brown are my favorite).  Aba and Nana’s family came from all over the world: The States, England and Ghana!

The reception was at Snow Valley – a beautiful venue because of its green surroundings and log cabin feel.  It is a tricky place to light because of all of the windows around the dance floor, so note to other photographers photographing here – off camera flash is a must!  Aba and Nana had some delicious food, and an all-around fun reception!

Aba and Nana, we wish you the best on your journey together!

Jennifer & Jonathon’s Wedding Photographs! – Edmonton Wedding Photographers

Jennifer and Jonathon’s wedding was a privilege for me to photograph!  I had photographed Jennifer’s brother’s wedding the year before (Caitlin and Steven’s wedding), and I felt like I already knew half of the people there!  Jonathon wore a tuxedo and an RCMP uniform, and that added an excellent touch and personalization to the wedding photographs.  Jennifer looked stunning!

I loved all of the small touches at the wedding, like the gold bows on the bouquets and the salt and pepper shakers Jennifer had from her grandparents!  The dance was awesome, and I enjoyed spending the day with such a great group!
